My Project

I am a Resource Teacher who works with students having specific learning disabilities and other disabilities causing a delay in their learning. Most of my students struggle with reading and writing skills. I would love to have more accessible materials to use with these students that can help with dyslexia and/or attention deficits.

I use a program rich in phonics development using lots of repetition.

It would be nice to have extra learning tools to enrich this program and make it that much more effective with some fun strategies. Some of my students are more advanced and may have outgrown our program it would be wonderful to have extra activities on hand and something that is different.

Many of my students struggle with attention in their classrooms and need fidgets or wiggle seats. Typically, this is something that is part of their written accommodations and it would be nice to help our school's budget by having more of these items available. For example, a couple of students are fixated on placing something in their mouth so having a few chew necklaces on hand is always nice.

Another need is writing. Having so many students with ADHD, ADD, and/or dyslexia, I want to explore ways to help accommodate them on their journey to building awareness of how to cope with their specific disability. I would like to purchase special writing tools such as colorful graphing paper and reusable writing books to build their endurance and desire in such areas of need.

I know these learning tools would be helpful to my students to have readily available. Having these items would also benefit my own journey as an educator to try new and different methods in supporting my group of students. I greatly appreciate any help offered.
