Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a second-grade teacher at one of the schools that is welcoming many of the immigrants from South America. The students are loving and full of potential that is not being fully reached due to the unfortunate circumstances that they have been going through. Some of them were on the road for up to a year making the long journey to the United States. We are a classroom in need of anything and everything.

It is not easy for these families to obtain school supplies while many of them are looking for work.

We would benefit from having pencils, erasers, crayons, markers, construction paper, and glue for the students to share and focus on learning and creating.

We have managed to get students Chromebooks which have shown major improvement and interest in the English language, but we do not have enough headphones to practice speaking and listening.

Teaching addition and subtraction skills would be easier with number lines and dice to add and subtract. The laminator and easel pads would help to create visual aids. The sentence strips and pocket charts would help when working on reading and writing.
