Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever met a child that refuses to put down a book? Well, that describes my students. They love books! They enjoy reading picture books, chapter books, science books...you name it. Many of my students do not have access to books at home. Our classroom library is the place where they can get lost in a book. In my class there are a variety of readers. Some students struggle to read and others read above grade level. Books and literacy materials at my students' reading levels, that complement their interests, are very important for helping them to continue to develop their reading skills.
Regardless of their reading abilities, my students are book enthusiasts!
My Project
With your help, my second graders will have access to a classroom library filled with a wide array of books that they can read independently. Currently, the books they have are limited in number and many are old or outdated. Most of these books don't match the cultural diversity of my students or suit their reading level needs.
You can help to expand their love for reading.
They will have a comfy set of chairs in which to read the books that will engage and stimulate their imaginations. The requested enrichment kits will help develop their overall reading comprehension skills. Adding these engaging books to their library will help them gain reading fluency, add to their background knowledge, and encourage their love for reading.
