My students need 4 timpani drums. These are instrumental in every percussionist's learning. This is a good basic set of drums that will last for decades to come!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The performing arts are buzzing in our school. Five years ago, the entire music program consisted of 23 students in the concert band, 20 students in the spring musical cast, and a high school chorus of around 10 students. This coming year, we'll have 100 students in the band, over 60 students in our cast of our spring musical (along with 40 in the crew), and a chorus of 85 students!
Our district includes some of the most dedicated students and hard-working parents I have ever met--and this hard work means they deserve more!
Our students LOVE music and they have now been given the opportunity to show that passion in school; they are beginning new instruments, exploring their acting and singing skills, and honing their abilities on a daily basis. With a growing program comes growing financial needs and that is what brings me to Donors Choose.
My Project
Our Concert Band is made up of a really special group of students who deserve to showcase their talents with equipment that allows for it. In particular we have some amazing percussionists. However, their equipment was not upgraded for many years, until we began to upgrade about five years ago. Timpani are some of the last big items we need to have a truly solid core of percussion instruments.
New timpani will leave a lasting impression on our students for decades to come.
Timpani are expensive drums, but their longevity really makes them worth it. Currently, our band only has a half set that is easily 60-80 years old. It has truly come to the end of its lifespan. The drums do not work mechanically and the sound is affected by this.
I hope that this project will allow our students the ability to learn how to truly play timpani and make our band sound better than ever!
