Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school serves students in grades K-5 and provides rigorous academics, amazing teachers, and a safe learning environment. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 80% of our students receiving free lunch. Students in my classroom reside in an urban area with very little financial means.

Many students come to school in September without the essential supplies needed to complete basic classwork.

We are pushing for a hands-on curriculum which is hard to do with the little supplies our district affords us. This year I have been switched to a new grade, which means I am starting the year with basically an empty room! I am looking for some general supplies to start the year off!

My Project

Time for kids would help my students keep up on current science and social studies events as well as enhance their reading abilities! These magazines would help my students become interested in the world and what is going on around them. Often our students come from households where the news isn’t frequently watched or talked about. I would love these magazines to enhance my teaching and the student environment! Time for Kids is a very valuable resource. This would be a great addition to my third-grade science and social studies classroom. My third-grade​ students would greatly appreciate any help and donations!
