The use of color has also helped us create an environment where students can feel comfortable, motivated, and excited to learn. Whenever a box arrives to my classroom, the students are very curious, and we kept this a secret from them pretty well until it was the week of the hat designing. We even wore the hats on Field Day since it was later this year in June. You were able to spot our fourth graders from far away in their bright and colorful hats! My students were able to do so many fun STEAM projects! We used lots of the colorful paper and craft materials to enhance our designs. We used the tape for the \"building\" portion of our projects and when we had to connect various materials. I can't believe how quickly this project got funded. We were in such need of markers and colored pencils, and now the two drawers are full! The students use these materials daily for fun projects we do in Science and Health. They love to sketch in pencil first, trace their work in markers, and then erase the pencil marks! \r\nFor example, we do weekly \"kind kid\" cards for a classmate and they decorate it after they wrote something nice about the person. These always come out so nice. We also just learned about the lungs and brain, and we drew, labeled, and colored some diagrams of those.\r\nThe students are starting to take more pride in their work and are putting in the extra effort. I am so proud of them. The badge holders are used for when students become \"Super Scientists\" and present an experiment they worked on at home.
