Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a teacher in a diverse school district, my students face several challenges in and out of the classroom. Despite their many challenges, I am constantly looking for different artistic ways to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

As our ceramic program has grown, more supplies are needed for carving into clay and storage and maintenance for our students!

The supplies below, such as slab mats, will help us maintain a clean environment. The mats are easy to clean while also not allowing a lot of dirt in the air, which can be difficult for some students. We need containers, such as clear trays for storing various tools, along with wire baskets to hold tools that need to dry after a class session. Various storage bins of varying sizes allow students to store ceramic pieces and tools without the risk of them drying out or being damaged.

You would be amazed at the sculptures and vessels our students can create when given the suitable materials and time. Their artworks always tell stories they would never be able to express in words. They show the happiness they have experienced, the sadness, their troubles, and their dreams. You see what motivates them and how you can help them grow as students. It's amazing what a piece of clay can do for young adults.

Our art rooms are a safe place for our students, allowing them to be free and create artworks that are telling of who they are. It is not possible if we don't have the supplies for students to use to express themselves. Your donation of supplies will make a difference and put huge smiles on my student's faces.
