Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In this hands-on STEM project, 8th-grade science students will step into the shoes of structural engineers to explore potential energy, kinetic energy, friction, and speed. Using foam pipe insulation, painter's tape, and classroom furniture, teams will design, build, and test custom marble roller coasters featuring steep drops, loops, and twists. Along the way, they will collect real data using flexible tape measures, scales, and stopwatches to bring abstract physics equations to life through interactive experimentation.

By designing and testing their own thrill rides, students won't just memorize force and motion concepts; they will actively problem-solve, iterate on designs, and experience energy transformations firsthand. Your support provides the core building materials and measurement tools needed to transform our classroom into an active engineering lab where every student can discover the thrill of science.
