My Project

Right now, my students engage in "Design Thinking" using cardboard and tape. While this is great for prototyping, there is a "missing link" between their digital literacy skills and physical production. They are learning to navigate basic CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software, but their designs currently stay trapped behind a screen. To truly prepare them for the 21st-century workforce, they need to understand the bridge between digital modeling and manufacturing.

We are requesting a user-friendly, classroom-safe 3D printer and a starter set of PLA filament.

This technology will transform our classroom into a "mini-makerspace."

How we will use it:

• Mathematics: Students will design and print geometric solids to explore volume, area, and symmetry.

• Science: When studying animal adaptations, students will design "prosthetics" or specialized tools for specific environments.

• Literacy: After reading a novel, students will "print the setting" or create 3D artifacts that represent a character’s journey.

• Social-Emotional Learning: Our "Mistake Market" will celebrate failed prints as essential steps in the engineering process, teaching persistence and growth mindset.

Your donation will do more than just buy a machine; it will provide my students with the "I can do that" moment. By putting this technology in their hands at age eight or nine, we are breaking down barriers to STEM and showing them that they are creators, not just consumers.
