Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I founded a Band Club last year with great success. We have kids who never played an instrument in their life before, who are now playing in a band and performing at the school and in neighboring schools. I have accomplished this on a shoestring with no supplies paid for by the school, and have used lots of my own money and equipment to make this possible.

Having music in a school curriculum should be a given!

There are no music classes offered at our school despite most students identifying as creatives. I have sought to fill this gap, and am offering lessons in multiple instruments, songwriting and band. We desperately need more guitar amplifiers- we have incredible gifted guitarists watching when they could be joining in!
