Being a Reading and Writing resource teacher to grades 3-5 is a challenge I am up for. As a middle school ELA teacher for the last nine years, I know that many of our kids are missing the foundational skills of reading and writing. It is crucial that the proper support and interventions are put into place now to prepare our students for the future. Studies have shown that children learn better when they feel confident and are engaged. Which is why I believe enrichment and support should be given in various ways to help all our diverse learners. Many of these supports can only be created if teachers are provided the proper resources and materials to make it happen, which at times can be costly.
Ever student deserves the right to be given the proper support to help them read and write on grade level.
With your help, the requested materials can help create resources to do this. I plan to use the following resources as follows: the color printer to help create reading and writing stations that focus on specific skills or practices that students need for enrichment. The reading comprehension games help engage and build confidence in our most at-risk/struggling students with the end goal of them being able to master grade-level standards. The class set of highlighters to help students identify their essay structure. The specific colors can help them see where their points of focus and strengths are. Lastly, the Visible Learning resource book will help provide new ideas and practices for our ELL/Multilingual learners.
Every single item requested will be used to directly help our intermediate-grade students and ELA teachers at a Title 1/Renaissance school with a Latino/Hispanic population of over 95%.
