Learning a new language is challenging for anyone. My ELLs have to learn a new language in an immersive environment which can lead to them feeling stressed or anxious. Visual Images can help ELL's reduce their anxiety and strengthen their comprehension of the subject. A colored printer will allow me to print out visuals for our different units and various academic terms that they will have to know for upcoming standardized tests. Along with language, many of my students struggle with different types of learning challenges such as ADHD, ADD, and so on. Data shows that students who have Flexible Seating (via the standing table and stools in my request) are 45% more likely to participate in discussions in a classroom environment where they do not feel restricted. A standing table allows my students that need to move around to stand at the desk to still stay on task and complete their assignments. I have worked very hard to create a welcoming classroom space. My goal is to add flexible seating so children feel welcomed and want to learn. Our kids spend 8 hours a day sitting down. They need the chance to stretch their legs and learn in a classroom that goes against the atypical rows of the desk.
