My Students

Our school is in an urban area in Virginia. We take pride in being the most diverse elementary school in our district and represent about 30 different languages that are spoken by our students. Our students and teachers love books and make reading a special part of each day. Along with motivating our students to read books they enjoy, our teachers are always working to increase our students' academic achievement and social-emotional skills. We are proud of our school community!

My Project

Peter Brown has captured our students with his book called The Wild Robot. Many of our students have the read the first one and are now anxiously awaiting the sequel to see what happens to Roz, the robot who has been living on a deserted island. This story is one that shows adventure, cooperation, determination, and how a positive attitude can change the world around us. It's a wonderful example of how we need both technology and nature. Now that we have met Roz and seen the impact she has had, we must know how she is going to return home from this island!
