This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a certified school nurse who works at a large, urban, public school, where the vast majority of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. The school nurse's office is a very busy place indeed! I treat several dozen students daily for all sorts of ailments. From coughs, colds and fevers, to injuries, asthma attacks, health education, and a kind shoulder to cry on, I am there to attend to all of my students' basic health and emotional needs!

My Project

I have a good quality thermometer that allows me to assess my students' temperatures, but I have run out of individual thermometer covers. There is no money in the budget to cover this expense.

Many of the parents of our students are working during the day, and find it difficult to leave work when their child is sick and must go home.

Consequently, many of my students remain for quite awhile in the nurse's office. I am requesting a portable speaker for the nurse's office. My sick students would be able to listen to some relaxing music as they await their parents arrival.

Lastly, I am requesting a portable scanner that will allow me to scan health-related documents.
