This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have been teaching at the same school in the Bronx for the last 11 years. I have had the pleasure to teach, work and learn from some of the hardest working students I have ever seen. These students are resilient. A lot of them come from tough situations outside of school and yet they come to school every day with smiles on their faces and ready to learn. Most of them come from homes where English is not the first language spoken therefore it can be hard for them to get the academic support they need.

My goal every year is to ensure students have the basic supplies, like notebooks, pencils, and pencil cases filled with everything, they need to have a successful year.

Because I teach in a community where every little bit of money counts, I try to alleviate the stress of having to buy school supplies for the families I am fortunate enough to work with year after year.
