Your support has provided my students with more than just classroom materials; you have given them a vital bridge to learning. For many of my students, the world can feel overwhelming or difficult to navigate, but these new tactile resources allow them to ground themselves, find focus, and engage with their lessons in a way that truly resonates with their unique learning styles.\r\n\r\nSeeing the students' faces light up as they explored the liquid tiles and textured bins for the first time was a moment I wish I could have shared with you. One of my most energetic learners spent nearly twenty minutes peacefully focused on a new sensory sequence, a level of calm we haven't seen all year. We are now moving into a creative writing unit where the students will use these materials to inspire descriptive storytelling, turning their physical sensations into rich, imaginative prose. Thank you for opening these doors for them and for being such a meaningful part of our classroom community.","fullyFundedDate":1767042425338,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-sparks-engaging-minds-through-t/9875326/","projectTitle":"Sensory Sparks: Engaging Minds Through Touch and Texture","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gately","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10333645_orig.png?crop=796,796,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762267083794","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10333645"},{"teacherId":9030573,"projectId":9372007,"letterContent":"You have transformed our therapy room with meaningful materials and sensory equipment that our students absolutely love including balance stepping stones, HEX Lights Kids color-activated LED interactive panel, a jellyfish motor tank, a sensory table, filled with kinetic sand, a therapy peanut ball, and many other supplies that have supported motor coordination, strengthening, sensory regulation and focus. The students come to therapy with such excitement.\r\n\r\nThe students' faces lit up when they discovered the new equipment. One student, who is typically very reluctant and unmotivated to write, surprised me by actually asking to do a writing activity after spending time engaging with one of the sensory tools donated through this program. The equipment helped him regulate his body and attention in a way that made learning feel achievable and even enjoyable.\r\n\r\nAs an occupational therapist, it is incredibly rewarding to witness the progress my students are making now that they have access to equipment they have needed for so long. So, after receiving these donations my coworker and I along with a large group of students went into the care closet and set it up.\r\nSince setting up the care closet many families have come into the schools to shop the care closet. These tools aren't just \"extras\"; for my students, they are the primary keys that unlock their ability to focus and participate. One of our favorite moments happened during a recent literacy lesson where we used the new textured letter tiles and skinny chairs. They were finally able to move their hands across the different textures to \"feel\" the shapes of the words as we read them together and get the sensory input necessary. \r\n\r\nThe initial reaction from the students was pure magic—it was a mix of wide-eyed curiosity and immediate calm. When they first saw the colorful liquid floor tiles and the soft, tactile bins, there was a collective rush of excitement. You could see the tension leave their shoulders as they began to explore the materials. One student simply sat on the floor, mesmerized by the way the colors shifted under their touch. It wasn't just about the novelty of \"new toys\"; it was the visible relief of having an environment that finally spoke their sensory language.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps involve integrating these materials into more complex, multi-sensory math projects. We are currently working on a \"Sensory Market\" lesson where students will use different weighted objects and textured counters to understand addition and subtraction. Instead of just looking at numbers on a screen, they'll be physically sorting and weighing materials to solve problems, which helps cement these abstract concepts into concrete understanding. We are so grateful for your support in making this specialized way of learning a reality every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1762315589635,"projectUrl":"project/a-classroom-designed-for-focus-and-comfo/9860564/","projectTitle":"A Classroom Designed for Focus and Comfort","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gately","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10333645_orig.png?crop=796,796,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762267083794","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10333645"},{"teacherId":6838311,"projectId":9495454,"letterContent":"I am so very thankful for the supplies you were able to provide for me and my students.
