The Mystery of Virginia's History- Part Two

Help me give my students historical fiction novels set in their home state of Virginia to help them learn more about their state's history and to increase reading comprehension and literacy skills.

My Project

Every week, students come to the media center to have literacy lessons and check out books to read. Although we have a lot of great books to choose from, many of my students love reading historical fiction and mysteries. The author Steven K. Smith has combined these genres with his Virginia Mysteries series. These books would be beneficial in both teaching the students about local and state history and satisfying their personal interest in mysteries. The first seven titles in the series were acquired through Donors Choose a few years ago, and it would be nice if we could have the four titles in the series that have been released since. If we were able to increase our inventory of these titles, students would be able to foster their love of reading and get the great personal enjoyment that comes from reading a book for pleasure.

Donations to this project will greatly improve our school library by giving the students more access to books they love.

Therefore, any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
