My Students

Dr. Seuss once stated, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” I want my 2nd grade students to go many places but unfortunately I can't always give them the opportunities they need to grow.

My 2nd grade students are happy, excited learners.

They are driven by curiosity and motivated to learn new things. I want to provide the adequate learning experiences that they want and deserve. These students love school and enjoy reading and writing. They are creative children with so much potential. My students attend a public school in Utah where they are growing academically as well as socially. They are kind to each other and understand the concept of respect. They are truly great students who are trying their hardest to be successful.

My Project

Because reading is so essential in education I am requesting a listening center for my classroom. This equipment includes a CD player, 6 sets of headphones, a volume control, and a hard case to store and protect the equipment. Through my education I have come to understand the importance of reading and listening comprehension. I know this listening center will enhance the learning of my students. They will be able to listen to good readers which will improve their own reading. We are encouraging students to become fluent readers and by listening to other good examples my students can become better readers. Research also shows that reading and listening to good literature also improves writing.

I want to provide my students with the adequate materials they need to be successful in school.

However, because of limited funds I am unable to provide all the materials they deserve. This listening center will be used by every student in second grade this year and will be used for years to come. My students' reading and writing will improve and I can prepare them for their future education. I am trying to educate our future leaders and want to provide them with the best education that I can.
