Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our classroom is a full day preschool program on the southeast side of the city. The children in my class are high-risk students that come from low-income families. My students are eager to learn and are curious about the world around them. I am passionate about giving them all the resources they need to succeed in school.

My Project

My preschoolers are hungry to learn and I know my parents are challenged trying to teach their children at home during this pandemic. Providing butterfly kits to my students would be a great lesson for the whole family!

Students will be able to observe the caterpillars and chart their growth.

The children will be able to watch the process of metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly while being engaged in many activities. Lessons will be provided that will incorporate reading, writing, math and science while learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. This is a fun spring lesson that I enjoy doing with the children every year
