My Students
In a world full of tragedy and violence, our 3 year old students enter our classroom wise beyond their years. Despite living in one of the toughest neighborhoods in southeast, Washington, DC, their vibrant personalities almost make you forget about the sounds of gunshots and police sirens on the other side of the door.
They're soaring to success everyday and enjoy learning new things; almost as much as we enjoy teaching them!
They love hands-on activities and being very active!
My Project
This project is to create an atmosphere for one of our new classroom theme, "Trees". This project will help our students explore and investigate many different types of trees and their environments. These materials will allow our students to be able to identify different types of trees as well as explore what happens to them as they age and how they are useful to us everyday.
We're striving to teach our students the importance of trees and how much we need them in our daily lives.
The idea is to plant a seed of desire and wonder so that when our theme is complete, our students will encourage their families to do outdoor activities. We will explore which animals live in trees and use tents to discover what you can do in the forest. We will use jars to collect acorns and pine cones as well as other artifacts to discover what trees can produce.
