My Project

With help from other donors like you, and purchases made by my school and myself, I have recently created a primary grades sensory support space. We need a few pieces to complete the space.

A rug will help divide the space into a small group learning area, for working with me, and a separate, quiet zone for students to use for calming down.

One item I did not purchase for our quiet zone is puzzles. Several students have indicated they enjoy working on a puzzle to refocus before returning to class. Another overlooked item is sensory supports to use during reading instruction. Small mats and other rough materials are proven to help the brain build connections when learning how to read. Students will use their finger to "write" on the sensory tools.
