Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the best! They're 8th graders, so they're in their teenager years which, of course, is when they start to ask questions like, "What's in it for me? Why should I care?" I plan to provide some better incentives for rewards, in alignment with positive reinforcement and all the "positively" amazing outcomes that it has on the teenage brain. It's the little things that show that we care, so let's show that we do, times two!

My Project

What do I see lacking in schools today? Motivation! In a world where we all have to wear masks, it becomes hard to know who's smiling and who isn't. After building relationships with my students, I have learned their likes, dislikes, wants, and desires.

The best way reinforce the behavior/performance that you want is by giving what?

That's it! You've guessed it! The best way to get the behavior and learning you want is with POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT! My students already have shown an astonishing interest in reading and learning in general. This project will help enrich their school experience in the midst of a pandemic.
