The Book Boost Project

Help me give my students engaging, high-interest books that meet the needs of all reading levels in our classroom while nurturing a lifelong love of reading.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My fifth graders are curious, energetic, and full of personality. They come to school each day eager to learn, share their ideas, and grow—not just academically, but as thoughtful and empathetic individuals. One of my favorite things about this group is how much they enjoy reading when they find the right book.

This project will help me build a classroom library that truly meets the needs and interests of all my students.

The books I am requesting include a variety of engaging series and topics, such as high-interest reads like Who Would Win?, relatable stories like The Babysitters Club, and meaningful titles that focus on social-emotional learning. These books will help students strengthen important skills like understanding their emotions, building friendships, and developing empathy.

Representation is also incredibly important in our classroom. Many of these books feature characters from diverse backgrounds, allowing students to see themselves reflected in what they read while also learning about others’ experiences. This helps create a more inclusive and respectful classroom community.

With these new books, students will have more opportunities to choose stories that truly interest them and match their reading levels. Whether they are reading independently, working with a partner, or sharing during group discussions, these resources will help make reading more engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable for everyone.

By supporting this project, you are helping foster a love of reading while also supporting the social and emotional growth of my students.
