My Students

My students are currently in grades tenth through twelfth. I teach Chemistry and IB Chemistry. I teach in an urban environment where the students often lack resources to perform well in school.

My classroom is student centered and the students are very eager to demonstrate what they have learned in creative ways.

They learn best by doing so I try to incorporate hands on experiences as often as possible because it teaches them to think and solve problems.

My students are creative and very talented. They are currently unable to effectively apply the standards we have covered due to our lack of resources.

My Project

My students need the Brother printer to help them make connections with science using vivid images that they can print. Standards based learning in science requires interactive activities that are student centered. My classroom focus' on problem based learning that allows the students to creatively demonstrate mastery of the standard in the projects they create.

In my project based classroom, the students are often required to create projects that demonstrate their mastery of the content.

Some of my students don't have access to a printer at home so we often share the only printer in the classroom that is a black and white printer.

My students need access to a colored printer that will help them bring their projects to life with color images that help them understand Chemistry.

The Brother printer will allow the students to expand their creativity by making their projects more colorful and artistic.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
