Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Please help us expose our students to the creative side of science. This proposal is a joint venture by several science teachers who hope to integrate art in our science instruction. We are attempting to capture and embolden student voice through a design process that supports a student's ability to carve out pieces of the classroom and classroom experience as their own. Students can cement their roots with personalized creations which are both both tangible and abstract. Specifically the Cricut machine will allow students to design more colorful representations of both science concepts and vocabulary. The iPad will allow for students to design their creation and print their ideas prior to committing them to be actualized by the Cricut. To meet the needs of all of our students we will provide them with classroom white board space to blueprint their ideas as a first step to their vision before moving on to the iPad and then lastly the Cricut.

Engagement, participation, and empowerment are ways to blend students' voices to the learning process and by implementing this artistic component to our science classroom we hope to achieve this endeavor.
