The Actors' Screen Goal

Help me give my students divided space for reading and acting dramatic scenes in our large classroom. Creating a believable character onstage takes many levels of instruction; smaller groups in divided areas of the classroom is the goal.

My Students

My students are a mix of ethnicity and economic status. We encourage diversity and acceptance in our classroom and applaud our heterogeneity.

These students love challenges that extend beyond the classroom.

They love creating and exploring scenarios and situations that are make-believe as well as real.

I am constantly in search of creative ways to allow these students this freedom and individuality in their assignments because when their creative minds can connect thought with action, incredible things happen.

My Project

Learning to create a believable character onstage is a process that takes many levels of instruction. Our theater students practice reading and acting skills on a daily basis and act many plays in the classroom. COVID has changed the dynamics of the teaching environment. Most students feel more comfortable in smaller groupings, often divided physically from other students.

The donations to this project will help my students act within the same classroom, but in separate areas and apart from other groupings.

The items chosen will help to create separate space as our class studies the play, "To Kill a Mockingbird". Differing cast members can rehearse at school in one area of the classroom as others are performing in another area. The screens we hope to obtain can be used in projects like this one for many years. This project will allow students the ability to be distanced from a large group while participating in a specific scene of their play, enriching their experience in theater arts.
