My Students
The fifth graders at our school are a great bunch of kids. They are hard working and determined. They enjoy hands-on projects and our curious about the past and people. They enjoy reading both fiction and nonfiction.
The amount of biographies and nonfiction is limited in our everyday curriculum and exposure is key. Many of my students need the exposure to perform well on state testing.
My students live in a very rural community and many do not have exposure to these types of books within the walls of our school.
My Project
The biographies will be used for students to conduct a living museum, research reports, biography posters and classroom debates. They will also be used to prepare for nonfiction portions of state and federal testing.
Bring the lives of America's history to the hands of my fifth graders. Using the examples of these lives students can also see other perspectives of people's lives and experiences they had. Students will use the information they have gained from the books to their everyday lives.
My students love to devour these easy to read biographies. I want to build my library with more where they will be easily accessible for my students.
