My Students

Hi! I am a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing who serves students individually on individual goals to help them be successful in their classroom. My goal as their teacher of the deaf is to present them with tools for self-advocacy.

All of my students benefit from the one-on-one aspect of our sessions because I understand how their hearing loss affects their daily life, especially at school.

Being able to understand them allows me to create a relationship with them that others may not be able to reach. Using technology benefits my students and me the most! This is because technology is really useful for all of my students with hearing loss because they can communicate best with the use of technology.

My Project

The materials I am asking for are technology to be specifically used by the student during our sessions. Because all of my students are in their grade level class(es), I move from school to school; this is called itinerant services as I move throughout the district to see the students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Since I do not have a set location to see every one of my students, I tend to bring whatever I need. I try to bring useful tools, but I feel that I lack something very important. Technology is at the hands of all students; however, school is a place that they can learn to use this technology in order to benefit themselves.

The donations to this project will be used by the students to improve their knowledge of technology in order to equip themselves with the tools to be successful.

Having this specific type of technology will allow my students to branch out from their usual educational shell and be able to communicate in ways they have never been able to communicate before!
