They began the birdhouse building kits as an introduction to assembling, following directions, working together, and marketing. One house is complete, requiring painting. One of our students loves tools and is coordinated with his hands. One of our teachers introduced the class to sewing. They have learned cell parts in both animals and in plants. \r\nThey love to play computer quiz games based on the texts read aloud as a class. The range of levels of volume and vocabulary in the texts and illustrations helped students comprehend dairy concepts, cow breeds and raising calves. The class has yet to visit with a calf again as they have done in the previous year. Knowledge of the work for producing milk and of dairy products supports lessons in nutrition from their science unit.
