My Project

My students are resilient, funny, and incredibly hardworking. Even when life outside of school is challenging, they still show up each day ready to try. Many of them are visual and hands-on learners who become more confident when they can interact with math instead of simply memorizing formulas. I love seeing the moment when a student suddenly says, “Ohhh, now I get it!” after using Desmos to explore a graph or solve a problem independently.

As a Title I school, many of my students face financial barriers that impact their learning.

Some students share devices with siblings, come to school with uncharged Chromebooks, or do not have working chargers at home. Despite these challenges, they continue to work hard and support one another in class.

The Chromebook loaners will ensure that every student can participate fully in our daily Math 1 activities without feeling embarrassed or left behind. Since we use Desmos and other digital resources regularly, having immediate access to a working device allows students to stay engaged during instruction, collaborative activities, and assessments.

The chargers are equally important because many students arrive with low or dead batteries. Having chargers available in the classroom means students can continue learning instead of missing instruction time searching for outlets or borrowing equipment from classmates.

These resources will create a more equitable classroom where students can focus on learning math, building confidence, and developing problem-solving skills rather than worrying about access to technology.
