Help me give my students the technology needed to deliver high quality interactive lessons while enhancing student engagement as we illustrate complex science concepts for the class and access real-time science data.
My students represent a rainbow of cultural and socioeconomic diversity in an urban environment. They are both artistically and academically motivated in their learning as they attend a dual mission academic and performing arts high school in which they have specific majors of study in the arts. They are also college-oriented and choose rigorous preparatory coursework such as College Board-level Advanced Placement classes. They enjoy expressing their academics and art through classroom discussions, debates, group work, hands-on experiments and projects.
My Project
I teach Biology and Advanced Environmental Science courses at an urban performing arts high school. Daily, I aspire to teach real-world connections. This requires access to diversified resources and data necessary to fully explain science subjects to artistically inclined students. My goal is for students to excel in the classroom while developing into knowledgeable citizens ready to make an influential impact on our world. Every day we push ourselves to deliver high quality and diversified lessons. Now more than ever it is imperative that students understand the basics of science to understand our natural world.
For students to completely understand complex, cutting-edge information, we need technology so students can access the wide range of resources on the internet, actively illustrate complex processes, present labs and projects.
With an Apple iPad tablet and Pencil, we will be able to provide opportunities for multiple entry points and activities students of all skill levels and learning styles can engage in. Your support allows me to provide high quality live interactions with my fabulous students. They can better see my excitement for science while nurturing theirs. The iPad, magic keyboard and pencil will help students visualize concepts as they connect with one another while increasing their understanding of science.
