Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have been so fortunate to have Nook Tablets already funded through Donors Choose. The students and I appreciate the generosity of the donors who made this possible. Although this helps close the technology gap that we have been facing, we still do not have enough technology to serve our needs.

The students in my classroom are a diverse bunch with many different needs but have one thing in common; They are excited about learning!

They are a very fun and enthusiastic bunch who love to learn new things and help each other along the way. I have students who have been identified gifted, as well as second language learners. This requires differentiated instruction to meet their many needs.

My Project

More tablets will make technology more accessible for the 28 students in my classroom now, as well as years to come. We appreciate the technology we have received, but to make technology truly integrated into the curriculum, we need more computers. The students will be able to enhance their learning in all subjects areas with the ability to conduct research, use educational apps, as well as on-line educational websites. We now have wireless Internet at our school, so these portable tablets can be used at their desks independently, in pairs, or in groups. These tablets can be used to support the learning of all students at their individual instructional level.

We need to enhance our learning of the core subject areas with the use of technology. These new tablets will help us gain some computer literacy skills, as well as deepen our understanding of important concepts and help quench our thirst for more knowledge.
