Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Teaching first graders is a whole new experience for me. I know they are super cute and still very excited to learn. The students that I am teaching come from a variety of backgrounds and home lives. They are still learning to read, and need to be immersed in a literature rich, technology centered classroom. Many of our students do not have access to computers at home, as most of them come from low-income homes. All students should have equal access to technology at school.

My Project

Our district has provided us with some amazing technology resources, however, we do not have enough computers in our classroom to accommodate all of our students. Currently we have five desktops in our classroom, and 23 students that need to access a variety of programs.

Students will use these Chromebooks to use the iRead program for foundational reading skills, SuccessMaker for math skills and application, and Accelerated Reader for reading comprehension improvement.

Advanced students will also get to use these Chromebooks for research projects on various topics. My students requiring extra support will have time to utilize computer based tutoring programs.
