We use the new learning materials daily during our math and literacy centers, as well as during science and STEM exploration time. Recently, students worked together on a building challenge where they used the hands-on materials to design and construct bridges. They tested their designs, made improvements, and proudly shared what worked and what didn't. Watching five- and six-year-olds collaborate, problem-solve, and explain their thinking was a powerful reminder of how meaningful learning becomes when children can touch, build, and experiment rather than simply listen.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate and genuine. As we opened the boxes together, students gasped, clapped, and eagerly asked, \"When can we use this?\" They couldn't wait to explore every piece. Some students carefully examined the materials, while others immediately began imagining what they could create. Their curiosity took over before I even gave directions. It was clear from that first moment that these tools would spark creativity, confidence, and joy in learning.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our next steps include expanding our project-based learning experiences. We are beginning a unit where students will design and build simple structures that can withstand \"wind\" from a fan as part of a weather study. They will plan, test, revise, and reflect on their designs using the donated materials. We are also incorporating the resources into literacy by encouraging students to build story settings and retell familiar books using hands-on props. Your donation has given my students opportunities to think critically, work collaboratively, and see themselves as capable creators and problem-solvers. Thank you for helping bring learning to life in our kindergarten classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1768499730145,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning-for-kindergarteners/9982527/","projectTitle":"Hands-on Learning for kindergarteners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Katie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10339874"},{"teacherId":10339874,"projectId":9940815,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing new headphones for our kindergarten classroom. While many people use technology at home for entertainment, in our classroom technology is a powerful learning tool. Our students use tablets and computers for phonics programs, interactive math games, listening centers, and digital read-alouds that build early literacy skills. The headphones allow students to clearly hear letter sounds, word blending, counting songs, and story narration without distractions. This has dramatically improved focus, independence, and engagement during technology time. Students are able to work at their own pace, repeat directions as needed, and fully immerse themselves in their learning.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students is having their very own set of headphones to use during learning stations. They feel grown-up and responsible putting them on and logging into their programs independently. There is something magical about watching a five-year-old light up when they can clearly hear a story or successfully complete a phonics lesson on their own. The headphones create a sense of ownership and make technology time feel special and purposeful rather than noisy or overwhelming.\r\n\r\nI have especially noticed growth in a few of my quieter students and English language learners. With headphones, they are more confident participating in digital lessons because they can replay instructions privately and process language at their own speed. Students who are easily distracted are also more focused and productive. These headphones have helped create a calmer classroom environment and have made individualized learning possible in ways that simply weren't before. Your generosity is helping build independence, confidence, and foundational skills that will support my kindergarteners for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1767203366801,"projectUrl":"project/hearing-for-kiddos/9940815/","projectTitle":"Hearing for Kiddos","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Katie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10339874"},{"teacherId":10339874,"projectId":9882049,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support of our \"Kindergarten Scientists\" project through DonorsChoose, my students have transformed into true young scientists. The new hands-on materials have completely changed the way we explore, question, and learn together in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe are using our new science tools every week during our investigation block. With magnifying glasses, experiment trays, measuring tools, and hands-on science kits, students are no longer just listening to lessons — they are actively discovering. Recently, we completed a classroom project exploring plant life cycles. Students planted seeds, observed them daily, measured growth, and recorded changes in simple science journals. Using the magnifiers, they examined roots and tiny leaves up close, noticing details they had never seen before. Watching them use real tools made them feel like \"real scientists,\" and their confidence has grown alongside their plants.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was unforgettable. As we unpacked the boxes together, there were gasps, cheers, and so many curious questions. One student exclaimed, \"Are we really scientists now?\" Another carefully picked up a magnifying glass and immediately began inspecting the classroom rug. Their sense of wonder was immediate and genuine. The materials sparked curiosity before we even began our first formal lesson.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our classroom has become a space where exploration leads learning. Students are asking deeper questions, making predictions, and using evidence to explain their thinking. The next steps in our current science unit involve simple experiments with weather and water. Students will test what happens when water freezes and melts, observe changes in different temperatures, and record their findings. We are also beginning a unit on living and nonliving things, where students will sort, observe, and defend their reasoning using the tools you helped provide.\r\n\r\nYour donation did more than supply materials — it created opportunities. It gave my kindergarteners the chance to see themselves as capable thinkers, investigators, and problem-solvers.
