First graders are still so very excited and motivated to read. I want to be able to expose them to a wide variety of materials on their level. The books that I have chose include nonfiction, fiction, and books that focus on kindness and STEM activities. When my students step into my classroom I want to inspire a love of reading and learning. I want them to see the beautiful bookshelf and the amazing selection of books available, and be excited to learn how to read. First grade is a crucial year for literacy. If a first grader doesn’t learn the joy of reading, they might fall behind their classmates.
