I work with a very diverse group of students in a suburban school where quite often I, as just one of their teachers, provide the only structure they have in their life. My students come from many different backgrounds - culturally, financially, and family dynamics.
They learn best by interacting with the lessons in a variety of ways.
This includes trivia games to check for understanding. As high school students, they love opportunities to compete against each other in teams or as a class against the teacher.
My students also crave opportunities to express themselves in their work. Providing art supplies allows them to be creative.
I am hoping to make my classroom more inclusive all around so that every student that walks through my door will know that their needs matter.
My students need to be prepared for a future driven by technology. Unfortunately this is still not a reality for every student in my school.
Providing them with Chromebook compatible supplies will help give them the tools they need to access today's technology.
Students will be able to use headphones to participate in watching educational videos with check point questions on EdPuzzle as a supplement to what is being taught. They will also have access to a read aloud function available with online testing. Students with personal headphones find that they are often incompatible with a Chromebook which is the technology provided by our school.
