Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work in a Title One school in Georgia. I am currently the one Language Arts teacher for the students in 4th and 5th grade. I work with over 75 students a day to help them increase their literacy skills.

These students come to school daily with a desire to learn and grow as readers and writers.

I would love to help support them and allow them to have access to as much reading programs as possible. Through DonorsChoose I hope to create class projects that will help support my students.

My Project

Adding Chrome Books to our classroom will allow the students to have access to online programs that also help enforce reading and comprehension skills. Our school has access to some amazing online programs but currently we do not have a working computer in our classroom.

If we could get some Chrome Books in our classroom we would be able to use them daily to participate in online programs such as Accelerated Reader, STAR reading, IXL and Read Theory.

These programs provide additional instruction to students on their reading level. It is a great way to get the students excited about reading.
