Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are eager to read books that reflect real emotions, relationships, struggles, and growth. Many of them become much more engaged when they can connect with characters and stories that feel relevant to their own lives and experiences. I am requesting several highly requested young adult book series, including the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer, Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow, and books by Jenny Han such as To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Summer I Turned Pretty.

These books are incredibly popular among teens and encourage independent reading, discussion, and critical thinking.

For many reluctant readers, having access to books they are genuinely excited about can completely transform their attitude toward reading. These stories explore themes such as identity, friendship, love, mental health, resilience, and self-discovery — topics that resonate deeply with middle and high school students.

Our school library currently has limited copies of contemporary young adult literature, and many students are unable to purchase these books on their own. By adding these titles to our collection, students will have access to engaging, age-appropriate novels that inspire them to read both inside and outside of the classroom.
