Teaching Kids to Draw

Help me give my students access to full drawing pencil sets so they have a variety of pencils to learn to shade correctly.

My Project

Research has shown that helping students learn to draw and paint helps develop creative problem solving skills, motor skills, language, and social skills. Art requires students to make decisions and take risks. My students learn the elements of art (color, shape, etc.), but also the Principles of Art like balance and unit which can easily be applied to other content and situations.

By providing appropriate tools in the art room, we can help students develop these higher level thinking skills and problem solving in real life situations.

My project is requesting funds to purchase a class set of drawing pencils, a few drawing books, new paintbrushes and pallets, and aprons (have to protect those stylish middle school outfits!).
