My Project

My second graders come to school with a wide range of reading and writing abilities. Many of them are still learning how to organize their thoughts and build the confidence needed to express their ideas in writing. For some students, the hardest part of writing is simply getting started.

Oral language is a powerful bridge to writing.

When students have opportunities to talk through their thinking, hear their own words, and rehearse their ideas, they are much more successful when it comes time to put those thoughts on paper. I am requesting Voice Recording Buttons, LCD Writing Tablets, Mini Clipboards, Sight Words Flash Cards, and more.

My classroom serves students in a Title I school community, where school is often the place where students have the most access to books, learning materials, and opportunities to practice important academic skills. Creating engaging literacy stations helps ensure that every student has multiple ways to practice reading, vocabulary, and writing in a supportive environment.

The tools in this project will allow my students to speak their ideas, hear their thinking, practice their writing, and build confidence as learners. These small but powerful tools will help transform our literacy block into an interactive space where every child has a voice.
