My Project

This is my second year working with recently immigrated students in Alexandria, Virginia. From last year, I have learned that my students bring a wealth of knowledge, assets, and skills from around the word, so the least I can do is provide them with the supplies they need to experiment and learn in class. My students are unique because many have experiences with limited or interrupted schooling. Many are refugees and have experienced trauma or witnessed violence in their life. For this reason, I want to make my classroom a safe oasis where they can focus on nurturing their skills and learning more in English.

My goal for this project is to provide students with a calm, organized classroom environment and the essential supplies they need for class, such as pencils, white board markers, and colored pencils.

Working with our group of over 400 multilingual students is amazing but it can be hectic staying organized and providing that nurturing, structured environment every student deserves. This is why I am requesting shelving and storage containers to help me create a more effective, stress-free environment for the students.
