This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

. We are a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free lunch, and many students may be the first in their family to attend college when they leave our campus after graduation.

They are like most humans who have lived through multiple years of a pandemic, in a digital age, with their attention split at every moment... they have a really really really hard time putting down their phones.

My Project

After what felt like an unending season of virtual learning, it's incredibly challenging to come back to school and tear one's self away from the comfort of a device, and back into more face-to-face interaction and a classroom community. That's why I am seeking funds to help set up a phone charging station that my students can use in class!

My desire is to utilize the phone charging stations to form a mutually beneficial relationship - the phones are out of their hands, their attention is on their work and each other, and the phone gets a quick charge in the process.
