Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of my students chose to attend a STEM high school over a traditional public school because of the opportunities they believe would help them to advance their futures. For most of them, they have already been exposed to a traditional public school setting, and have decided to take control of their education by enrolling in a STEM school.
What I love most about my students is that they come from such diverse, multi-cultural backgrounds and that they are so eager to share their stories and talents with people who are willing to listen and give them a chance.
Because it is a STEM school, I am so excited to take on the challenge of helping them see the importance of literacy, through technology, in all aspects of their lives.
My Project
I am requesting donations to fund a classroom set of tablets (with keyboards). With these tablets, students will be able to work on forums as simple as GoogleDrive (for quick, immediate feedback on their writing) to interactive learning tools like FlipGrid.
The school is categorized as a Title I school, so many of my students struggle to access the materials and tools needed to aid in their learning; because a majority of my kids do not have access to technology, tablets are the most cost-efficient items for the most number of students.
Students have voluntarily chosen to attend a STEM school in order to access the opportunities that will better prepare them for the future. In a world where digital technology is rapidly advancing, I think it is important to equip my students with the critical skills needed to be prepared for their world after high school. Therefore, your donation and contribution would help students access the technology to make their learning fun, innovative, and exciting!
