Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a self-contained 4th-grade class at a public school, Preschool through 6th grade, of approximately 600 students. Many of the children have been in attendance at the school since they were toddlers. Students view the school as their second home.

I have the most beautiful, interesting, and talented children in my classroom.

They come to school every day ready to learn and to take on challenges. My students' interests include engaging in hands-on activities that are thought-provoking and fun. They enjoy everything technology-related and "outside of the box" projects. They always strive to do well at the school and community they've grown up in.

My Project

My students are with me for about 6 hours every day. They are provided an optional breakfast before school and a daily lunch in the afternoon. Unfortunately, about half of my students miss their breakfast time. Therefore, my students love it when I am able to bring in anything they can snack on in between their learning times. They think of it as a treat!

Snacks help support my students' learning.

Oftentimes, my students can't wait until lunchtime. I am wanting to provide them with something in between breakfast and lunchtime. Snacks can boost their learning as they are more able to focus on their tasks rather than be distracted by hunger.
