This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every child deserves the chance to feel successful at school. For the students in my upper elementary special education resource classroom, that success often comes through individualized instruction, patience, encouragement, and having a teacher close by every step of the way.

My students work incredibly hard to overcome learning challenges that can make reading, writing, and math feel overwhelming.

We celebrate every victory—whether it's solving a difficult math problem, or gaining the confidence to participate in a lesson. These moments may seem small to others, but they are life-changing for my students.

Because I teach in small groups throughout the day, I'm constantly moving, adapting lessons and providing the individualized support each student needs to succeed. One of the most important items on my wish list is a mobile standing desk with wheels. Rather than being confined to one spot in the classroom the students and I will be able to bring our workspace wherever needed. This flexibility means less time spent gathering materials and more time sitting beside a struggling reader, encouraging a hesitant mathematician, helping a child to stand and work rather than be confined to a chair or celebrating a student's breakthrough.

The additional classroom supplies in this project will help create an organized, engaging learning environment where students can focus on building skills instead of worrying about barriers.

You're giving children who sometimes doubt themselves the opportunity to experience success, build confidence, and discover that they are stronger than their challenges.
