My students absolutely love engaging in play that allows then to manipulate different textures-and they especially love squeezing it and watching it fall through their fingers. I'd assume it's very relaxing and calming for them. The arrival of our kinetic sand came at just the right time as we had just started our unit on dinosaurs. We were able to place small dinosaurs and scooping materials in the sand. It kept them busy and happy for long periods of time! It was the favorite center in our classroom for a many weeks!!! My older kids have enjoyed doing play along videos, as well as composing their own songs using the instruments. \r\n\r\nWhen I first showed my students the Boomwhackers, they were super excited about them and wanted to use them right away. They are such a good addition to our therapy space. \r\n\r\nThe kids favorite is absolutely the dog switch toy, but I have to say they are all loved equally. They have been very useful in the classroom. We were able to store our science projects and supplies. The students were very happy to be able to complete experiments. We were able to store the students' work so they did not spoil and rot. For example, the students used celery, water, and food coloring to see how plants absorb things from the soil. We discussed what they saw, and how we need to take care of our earth. If we did not have the storage we would not have been able to complete the activity. The class was also able to complete a chemical and physical change experiment using the microwave. The students had so much fun.
