My Project

My students with autism thrive when learning is hands-on, visual, and meaningful. This project will bring essential craft supplies into our therapy room, including sturdy card stock, colorful tissue paper for sensory-rich art experiences, and ready-to-use craft kits. These materials will allow my students to create art that is not only fun but also meaningful to them.

Arts and crafts provide valuable opportunities to support speech and language development naturally and engagingly.

As students work on their creations, they can practice following directions, labeling materials, using descriptive language, answering questions, requesting, commenting, and expressing their thoughts and feelings.

It's also a great time to build social skills. Students share materials, comment on each other's work, and learn to ask for help. Through these creative activities, I can teach basic concepts like colors, shapes, sizes, spatial concepts (such as "on", "under", "next to"), and sequencing ("first," "then," "last"). The resources funded through this project will help build not only fine motor skills but also essential communication skills that my students need to thrive. Thank you for helping bring creativity, language, and connection to my therapy room!
