Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Kindergarten students are part of a Title I school and many do not have the materials and resources at home to achieve their learning goals before they move on to First Grade. With COVID-19 setting us in a distant learning environment, many are having a hard time learning from home. Some do not have everyday school supplies such as paper, crayons, pencils, art supplies, or books.
My Project
My goal is to provide my kindergartners with the essential items needed for learning and development in their home. School supplies are a must for engaging learners, but they are even more important now that they are learning from home. The pencils, journals, and guided readers will support their early literacy needs. The watercolors and water color paper pads will help them express their creativity and ease their minds from the stress and anxiety they may be suffering from. The crayons, scissors, and glue will help them complete their learning packets provided by the school district to support their learning. The bags will help make the gift a special treat for them and will also help them to keep their materials together.
