My Project

My first graders are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love discovering and playing. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are an inspiration!

As first graders, I love their creativity and desire to learn.

To do this I need to provide them with opportunities to play, discover, and learn.

Our school is a Title I school with a diverse student population. Several students are English language learners. Each child in my classroom arrives each day hopeful and open to possibilities. The method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. Striving to incorporate inquiry and play into all we do, I want to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! I am eager to watch them grow this year.

Every day during our playtime you will see students creating art, building with blocks, engaging in small-world play, and discovering in our science center. Help us add to our play! Play silks, animal figurines, magnifying glasses, and blocks will all enhance their playtime. We are also asking for laminating pouches, a paper cutter, and table displays to share our work and display our work. Every day students learn content by integrating academic learning into their play.

These materials will support purposeful, meaningful learning for the joyful intellectual and social development of my students.

Giving students materials and time to play makes all teaching and learning more powerful.

We are constantly building on our centers and developing a deeper understanding of the concepts we are studying through purposeful play. Thank you so much for enriching our classroom environment.
