My Students

My students are 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who have the opportunity to choose band as an elective in elementary school. My school is a magnet school, and we have a very diverse population. I would like to ensure that all of our students, no matter their socioeconomic status, are exposed to band.

One thing my students have in common is an enthusiasm for music and playing their instruments.

I hope to help all students have a great musical experience by providing some quality school owned instruments for them to use.

My Project

Having low brass instruments is an important part of a concert band's sound as it adds depth and range to our group. Many low instruments such as the tuba and bari sax are too large for elementary schoolers, but the euphonium is playable for younger students. It is beneficial for the entire band to have low brass; they are able to play more interesting music that features the low brass on occasion, their ears are developed to listen for the low section of the band and they are trained to match the dark tone tone of the low brass.

I would like to provide a quality, well-built, long lasting euphonium for my students.
